The way I see it: there are over 300 people playing this game (I realize
that number is under dispute) , and you can't expect to have that number of
people decide not to use a certain "bug" to their advantage no matter how it
might affect the game. Bugs will be exploited and it is up to the
programmer/gamemaster to fix them as expeditiously as possible to maintain
fairness. I sympathize with everybody who has developed their position
trusting that the rules would be enforced, and believe me I do sympathize
because the movement bug allowed my enemies to move a large army much faster
than the rules said were possible. Unfortunately, I had been counting on
the fact that they couldn't. You must accept the fact that once a bug is
reported it becomes fair game. When you signed up to play I'm sure you read
the disclaimer regarding bugs, I won't bother to quote. You can't trust
your enemies not use a bug, because they don't trust you not use it - this
discussion thread proves that much. The SFW bug should be removed from the
game immiediately, but it's not up to the players to unanimously decide not
to use it for the sake of balance. The rules are enforced by the program
and that's covered by the $2.50 turn fee. If the gamemaster can't be
convinced that it should be removed; live with it, and use it as best you
can.
