As an ardent traveller of the lands from TIB to Rimmon,
I have made some observations:

>A force of Ergoth troops marched through Musketeer lands to invade
>the territories of a player who dropped. This player had formerly
>crossed swords with Ergoth, but had made peace[?]. When this player
>quit, he told the Musketeers that they could have his former lands.
>His lands are not former Ergoth lands[? I am assuming this, as they
>had to march through Musketeer lands to get there].

According to my most recent maps the Annuin area does indeed
border to the Nation of Ergoth - how else would the Lord of Annuin
have been to able to take a province from the Nation in the first
place if they didn't share a common border.

>Seems to me the only difference is that the core of the LotC all know
>each other and the core of the Musketeers are previously strangers.

I've checked the active players list for people redirecting mail to the
Rimmon postmaster (humakt2), there are at least two pairs of people
who share common last names, Gunderson and Kuhns. I can't say
anything about the Lords but you do get the impression that they all
know each other.

>Being my immediate neighbor I have obviously watched a fairly big
>force being gathered, but have not felt threatened by this growth. I do
see
>this as a basis for the problems arising now and without wanting to sound
>like I'm taking sides (cos I'm not) I believe that to have an army and
have
>nothing to do with it can be quite frustrating. You can spend a fortune
keeping
>it in the castle or garrisons or you can wander the world waiting for
someone
>to 'insult' you and then take that as a reason to cut ya loses a bit.
There
>is obviously more to it than that but its someting to think about.

Well made point by Syr-Antin. If someone need to reduce the strength of
their army for financial reasons, its probably more honorable to stage a
suicide attack against a superior foe (like Rimmon) than just use the drop
command. If this is the case, one can only hope for the Nation, that the
current bad Rimmon mood (due to the LotC war) doesn't affect these
battles, and this turns into yet another senseless, fight to the last
noble,
aurablasting, executing, nevereending war - to the detriment of any
faction wanting to exist peacefully in this area. We'll know for sure once
the
first noble gets captured I guess.
