With the trade good life span being short I would say in general
cities are under utilized generally.

Some longer routes will be un palatable to established factions who may
be happy to let you run a route they could not find a buyer for inside
there small trading loops.

The effort of trade is well rewarded in gold. Watch you don't buy too
much at the selling city that you end up with a lot of useless trade
items at the end of the trade lifespan cycle.
