I will refrain from responding point by point to this post in an effort to
keep this from becoming a public negotiation. But I would be remiss if I did
not at least address this post and attempt to lessen the possible "ill-will"
it may create.
An more detailed response is being sent direct to Walt for his consideration.

In a message dated 97-12-02 11:00:13 EST, walt@solgrp.chi.il.us writes:

I personally sent 3 emails, 1 per week, for 3 weeks to Walt before the public
posting to the list. I received no responses. I don't know if this was a
server glitch or some other problem, but TIBs did attempt to negotiate in
private.
I would also like to point out that the post was in no way an attempt to
negotiate with STC (or anybody else) in public. I would suggest any
concerned parties reread the post in question. It was an attempt by TIBs to
contact any and ALL factions on Tollus. STC or non-STC. As mentioned in the
post, we had had extensive negotiations with STC and they were over. We were
taking the next step by attempting to contact possible factions on STC that
were not affiliated with the STC.

Here Walt is referring to content of private emails, not the public post.
Yet he cites it as examples or proof of "the now public diplomacy". Again,
I suggest concerned parties reveiw my actual post. In it I never made
mention of these things. This is the first public airing of this dirty
laundry, and Walt is the one that hung it out. I will refrain from
responding to these points publicly in an attempt to keep private matters
private. I will only say that TIBs disagrees with several of these
assertions.

If an attempt to contact all parties of the continent of Tollus was
grandstanding, I apologise. STC seems to have a very egocentric vision of
themselves in relation to my original post. For the last time :-) I would
suggest a reread (hopefully by Walt himself). The post said, in it's most
basic form, "TIBs wishes to contact and negotiate borders and treaties with
any and all players on Tollus". It went on to say that anyone interested in
such negotiaions should contact me direct. In other words, in private. The
post in no way asked for, started, continued, or supported public
negotiations. Whether or not Walt's post is an intentional attempt to
mis-respresent my post, or if it was an honest mistake by Walt, can only be
answered by him.

The original post is available for anyboy who would like to see it.
