I just fell over this old thread:
Who says there isn't protection available?
Who knows, there might magical items out there
who bestow "absorb aura blast" on their holder
(naturally the reflect option for non-mages),
or anti-control amulets, giving immunity to
"bribe oathed noble".
If a simple gold ring, mentioned in an earlier
thread can have that many possible different
uses as suggested, why not this? It wouldn't
have been difficult to include in the code at
least, as it simulates already existing skills.
And for game-balance, an amulet simulating
that someone is o-2 when they are only o-1
is after all just worth one NP, just like a monster
controlling magic item is.
