Syr-Antin Say

This is a public statement from the Syr-Antin in ref to the NoE/Musketeers
situation. I will be talking with Maltar and if they disire the NoE reps and
rulers privately. I am posting this so that my affiliations, or lack of
them, are not misunderstood, misrepresented or misplassed by my inept
scribes.

At present 2 of my better nobles have been captured by a wandering lone
savage and are at an inn somewhere. All messengers that have been able to
make contact have been sent back with ransom demands by the said savage and
the letters have been covered with ale, the ransom being 2 large barrels of
anything alcoholic and a few serving wenches. My royal treasury cannot
stretch itself that far and so I am severely undermanned noble wise. My
other noble is breeding rats at a furious pace to meet the threat of warfare
right on my doorstep. I am a little mithed as to this situation, having been
a Greyfellite from the start and never having felt the fear of 20 pikemen
ransacking close to my borders (ok ok so we did have a war a while ago, I'm
just trying to lighten the situation).

In truth, I have dealt with the NoE since their arrival in the region. They
have seemed fair, a little ambitious in their tax collection but no problems
arose when I explained my long time trading in the region. Being my
immediate neighbor I have obviously watched a fairly big force being
gathered, but have not felt threatened by this growth. I do see this as a
basis for the problems arising now and without wanting to sound like I'm
taking sides (cos I'm not) I believe that to have an army and have nothing
to do with it can be quite frustrating. You can spend a fortune keeping it
in the castle or garrisons or you can wander the world waiting for someone
to 'insult' you and then take that as a reason to cut ya loses a bit. There
is obviously more to it than that but its someting to think about.

The musketeers I have known for a long time. Not having much to do with them
regional wise, Maltar has still offered help on occasions and has been a
fair leader. I think the satndhe has taken is due to the ongoing war with
LoC, andmaybe the belief that NoE is a front, maybe not. The letter, though
I don't think it should have been made public in its entirity, was pretty
harsh. I would die horribly rather than meet demands like that just for
honors sake, but when you are fighting a force like LoC maybe manners take a
backseat to the threat of another front being started, maybe not.

In summary and for all to know. My forces are reasonably vast and mobile. My
resources are plentiful and my nobles possesive of their turf. I will
attempt to help in any way possible, and on a much more seious not than this
in private, to avoid any conflict in the area. BUT if any Syr-Antin is
threatened by a spillage of this nonsense over our borders, then we will no
longer opt to be diplomatic mediators and will mobilize the whole pack of
rats and my fierce noble and take out at least one of the offending
alliances garrisons. So it is said, so it will be done if possible.

only bit to pay any attention to, and you may still be wasting ya time.
