Combat Resolution, addendum

Many thanks for the answers I've received. Much speculation, as none of us
have seen the code which resolves combat -- I suppose I could request a combat
dump, and see what sort of data I can derive from that.

I did want to clarify my question on "breaking". It says:
"Repeat until a side breaks. A side breaks when its total offensive plus
defensive value falls by 50%. "
My question was: Is this tested after the attacker's turn, then also after
the defender's turn, or is it only tested once each time around?
Additionally, what happens in the instance both sides "break"? Is it a
determination of who breaks worse? Or is the attacker or defender the winner
by default?
Thirdly, how does "Fight to the death" affect this? What if only one noble in
a stack has it (assume a) not the stack leader, then b) the stack leader)?

Of course, if there are any "combat simulators" out there, I'd be quite
grateful to examine such. I'm in the process of coding up my own, and wanted
to have a semi-reliable mechanism.

A final item -- if the great Atnerks could, some clarification as to these
items would be appreciated in the Great Book of Laws. Barring that, divine
insight would be appreciated. =)

Again, thanks much for the help. I promise I won't use it (much) to anyone's
disadvange. =)
