Come on!!!!! If you are a newbie then no one is interested in your lone
ship's ID. They do not care that much. You are not an enemy. Isn't it stupid
to hide ID of your lone ship with 8 sailors just because when you become a
serious power long time in the future this ID could be used to scry for you
or whatever. In reality perhaps then you will not have that ship any more.
Whatever can happen. I really do not understand the fear.

And war on sea is as normal as war on land (or isn't as normal :) ). And if
you are given a choice to tell others that you are newbie and all you have
to do is to reveal ID of your lone Galley then i can not see a problem.

BTW i also started as a newbie some time ago. I started in the middle of
terrible war. I traveled lands where armies fought each other. It was land
not sea. Still, i haven't lost a single noble nor as a newbie nor as a
member of alliance, (tfu, tfu, tfu). And definitely one thing helped me to
succeed - i did not hesitate to contact warring parties.
