I am a newbie (I joined Olympia 4 turns ago) and I picked out Yellowleaf as a
starting position. At the time of my joining I didn't know any other Olympia
players. By now it seems clear to me that whenever someone from Belgium starts,
they are instantly marked "LotC"... And that is not a bad thing at all... They
helped my get started and they do not demand anything in return. The reason they
did this is probably this:
As soon as a newbie with "be" in his e-mail adress enters the game, everybody
assumes that he's LotC... so no favours will be granted by LotC enemies. So the
only thing left to do for that new player is join LotC. I wonder what would have
happened if I had ignored LotC totally and if I had headed for the Ocean, seeking
my fortune elsewhere... I can take a guess, but I don't want to stir up things any
more than they already have been...
As far as my opinion goes, LotC is not one to go back on their word, in fact once
they promise something they do it. The only problem is that they have been in the
public light from the very start and it's easy to shatter one's image because
everyone is watching them. As far as the resource collection around yellowleaf is
concerned, I think that it's fair to state that no newbies are being prohibited of
any. BUT as far is trade is concerned, think for a minut... Is it really newbies
who dive straight into trading? I don't think so, I'm not thinking of trading
before at least 10 turns. And what if they do, they trade with yellowleaf? where
will they go? No, I think it's not newbies one is concerned about when they state
trade should be allowed in Azrain... And that's just logic.
