Mr. Seehawk,

You have, in my opinion, totally missed the point. Captain Arr informed
the world of two things: The LoC told him to get out of Azrain, and
that the LoC has garrisoned Azrain. You are correct in saying that they
have the right to control their own cities, and if one of them were to
land unannounced in one of my ports I would probably act similarly.
Captain Arrr may dispute that right on the basis of past treaties, but
that is not my concern.

It is the second piece of information that is the issue. Some of us on
Camaris, and by that I imply that this is not the PLATO leadership
speaking, are quite concerned that an alliance that has acted in an
unpredicatable and dishonorable matter in the recent past controls a
port that is less than a month sailing from our shores. I have made my
position clear on this issue, and several of my allies feel the same
way. My dear Captain speaks of his motives, and for him they are valid.
Mine are much more simple--I don't want these people to be in control of
Azrain, and if they don't withdraw I am going to do something about it.

Now, do I have the "right" to do this? That is a difficult question.
If I were to decide that I no longer wanted you to control Drassa, and
came along with enough forces to boot you out, I would, even in my own
mind, not be "right" to do that. Drassa is on the other side of the
world, and any activity there would be naked agression on my part.
Azrain, though, is in my backyard. The only reason that I didn't settle
there initially was the agressive and unfriendly tactics of the NE in
the early game. Now, I consider it to be within the sphere of influence
where I care what is going on, and I think I am within my rights to not
want it to be under the control of a rogue alliance.

I'll leave it to the lawyers to determine the fairness of these
statements.
