This is one of the details that I said I wouldn't bore the list
with, but Robert posted only half of the story.

In addition to the previously posted note about Bobo [6536] and the
Crimson Citadel, which was probably a botched attempt to add Bobo
[6536] to the New Empire pledge chain, note also this message from
Lady Eowyn in the turn 39 Olympia Times:

> Well, the facts are these, never has any of the nobles that are in Toppe
> even been in Azrain or the Crimson Citadel. The nobles who are in Toppe are
> nobles of factions who started just 7 to 10 turns ago.

Bobo [6536], who was in The Fence at the end of turn 38, is
an Oath-2 noble who started in Yellowleaf on turn 1.

I'm amazed at how many people accepted Eowyn's lie, but it goes
to show that the "Big Lie" works well. I didn't call her on it
at the time, because I wanted peace. But if people continue to
repeat the charge that PLATO was totally misguided, I have to point
out that she lied.

By the way, it _is_ true that PLATO was using a list of "suspected New
Empire nobles" which was bogusly large -- that's why we didn't take
Toppe, because we were annoyed with the guy who made that list and we
wanted to make peace with these people who were apparently only a
little associated with the New Empire. But the turn before we ran up
to siege Toppe, we examined things carefully and determined that Bobo
[6536] was definitely not a newbie and was associated with the New
Empire.
