Well, I was 3 for 4. I've done the math, and it works out--research has
a 25% chance.

As far as your idea that research ought to be cumulative, with a random
element, I absolutely agree with you. Perhaps you should post it to the
design list, where people are discussing ideas for a potential G3.

There are a lot of things about Olympia that could be better, I don't
think too many people would disagree with that. However, the simplicity
of the rules, IMHO, has contributed to an extremely active
political/diplomatic environment, which I find to be the most
fascinating part of the game. In other games I play the system is so
complex that I don't have time to hardly communicate with other players,
while in this one writing my orders is actually the least time consuming
part of the experience.
