Behind Orders

Even as new Player to G2, I find the BEHIND order somehow obsolete.
Why ?
Players were arguing that lonely nobles guarding a location have no profit of
the command, as it only applies to larger stacks and therefore more nobles. This
is especially sad if you have "long-distance" type of troops but only one single
noble in the location....Large stacks of nobles may issue the order, but this
really sticks them together, making them unflexible (like adventuring in
different directions is no more possible). I would like to see an AUTOMATIC
approach to the problem : all archers etc. should be BEHIND, and starting the
battle with their long-range weapons (a kind of first strike). Then the FRONT
troops join and batle resolves as usual. The acquiring of long-range should
therefore be more expensive. (This reminds me of the long forgotten Bard's Tale
series on my C64, where foes had a distance to the party and while approaching,
you could kill them with long-range magic (!!) or weapons. When they came near,
you had to fight them hand to hand anyway.) This should work for lonely nobles
or whole stacks too - all long-range are automatically put BEHIND, all others in
FRONT.
I hope I have brought up some ideas.
