Description

Revolution of Callisto is run via an updated version of the Callisto letter-writing roleplaying system that puts the players in the worldbuilding driver's seat.

In a country similar to 18th-century France, a Revolution has just taken place. The king has been imprisoned after attempting to invade his own country with a foreign army, and the newly-convened National Assembly debates what to do with him. The price of bread is high. The palaces have been nationalized and opened to the public. The cafés are abuzz with revolutionary ideas and stories of new scientific discoveries. And the players have the chance to shape the epic story of a nation, as fiery orators, brave patriots, or deposed nobility.

Revolution uses the Callisto rules. Callisto is a play-by-email game designed by Brad Murray and inspired by the early Braunstein games. It's specifically designed to be a structured by free-form narrative system. Callisto gives players wide-ranging freedom to attempt anything without waiting for the GM or the other players, leading to epic games that are relatively undemanding of the players.

Revolution is the third Callisto game I've run, and it's shaping up to be an exciting time.

Played the game? You can send me comments to be placed on this page by writing lindahl@pbm.com. But don't write me attempting to join the game -- write the GM, whose address is above.

Are you the GM? You can update your listing by writing lindahl@pbm.com. If you have something new to say about your game, for example an opening for new players, you can create an announcement for your game.

Don't see your favorite game? Then you can add an entry for it.
