DescriptionThe year is 1265 England has been rapt by civil strife and has suffered the effects of the Barons Revolt led by Simon De Montfort. What followed and ensued was a radical change in the way England was governed. No longer were Kings given ultimate responsibility. Now kings were beginning to be considered as first amongst equals with a parliament gathering in both number and strength. The Battle of Evesham has just taken place where Henry III forces commanded by Crown Prince Edward have defeated the Baronial forces lead by Simon De Montfort. De Montfort and his son were captured and killed and Henry once again is sole and undisputed ruler of England. England in 1265 is not the power it once was in the time of Henry II. Under his predecessors, Richard "Couer de Lion" or the Lionheart and John, England was stripped of all its French territories bar Aquitaine. England stands on the verge of losing this also. To the north the Scots have prospered from there pro norman allignment to England and have become a strong and keen ally. To the west the welsh princes pay homage to the English kings.
