I don't really like this from a "game" point of view. If "coats
of arms" (or whatever) can be faked, it puts a lot of scope for
deception in the players hands. Plus, if something bad happens,
you can always claim "that wasn't me; must have been someone with
a counterfeit coat of arms".
Given the state of the Times a few turns ago, this could result
in all sorts of mis-directed ill will generated by players faking
coats of arms, trying to incite wars between players or even
whole alliances. From a game-play point of view, I think that
if these sorts of things exist, they should be unique, known, and
impossible to counterfeit. Each noble could choose whether or
not to display it.
