Scott Hauck and I disagree about what's realistic. If 200 men
"quietly" ambush 1 man, and then on the next day "quietly" ambush 10,
and the on the next day "quietly" ambush 5 men, then I think it's
realistic for information about this to leak out. The information that
I got about Dr. Pain's attacks came from a variety of sources, but
mostly NOT from the people getting killed.
In any case, I find that sufficient mechanisms are in place, now, to
go kill people without getting my faction caught. That should be the
gamemaster's worry, not mediating between players with different views
of realism.
Scott Turner thinks I was arguing that players will always distribute
obituary information between themselves. I was not. I was merely
saying that history has shown, so far, that they do. Extrapolate for
yourself.
He also thinks that I would support border control. I gave a list,
months ago, of reasons why I think it's hokey. I believe that there
are sufficient mechanisms in place, now, to achieve economic control
of regions without having to block borders. I said it months ago.
Let's have new discussion if we're going to have discussion.
