Yes, since you only learn 1/2 as fast as study. Teachers make study
even faster.

Of course. Use would count towards the skill being used.

The idea with tying the bonus for combat to the toughness of your
opponent is to prevent people from taking a wimpy unit, doing a SWEAR 0
on it, and attacking it for a sure win, a loyalty bonus and a study
bonus too. Your bonus would be something like:

c * (attacker_strength / your_strength)

So if you made it out of a battle where you were outnumbered and beaten,
you will have learned more than your opponent.
