I personally think 7K gold is sufficient to train a unit to a level sufficent
to make some small amount of cash for you, which you can then follow up with
training another unit, etc...Consider that 7000 gold is quite a bit of gold
on the objective scale. A small boat costs less than 1/100th that. I assume
a small boat is the equiv of a rowboat, or a canoe...that costs over $100
now. By that scale, these players have the equiv. of probably $17,500. I
could easily support 11 men (including myself) for long enough for them to get
a job that pays the bills, AT LEAST.
