Seating is limited to 80 so send your reservations in early. Also, for those who want to participate, there will be a Neverending Story after feast with a prize for the most entertaining addition to the story. There will also be a prize (TBA) for the best table setting at the feast so bring your best gear.

Remember, the only true reservation is a paid one! Also, there will be a post revel on site with singing, dancing, and the like, so plan to stay late. Games and the like will be going on all afternoon. Merchants and performers are welcome.

Directions

LOCATION: Old Georgetown Country Club (Moose Lodge), North Fraser Street, Georgetown, SC

Take your best route to Georgetown, SC. If you're coming in on US Highway 17, north or south, you will eventually wind up at the Five-Points intersection in Georgetown. If you're coming in on Highway 521, you'll come into Georgetown at the intersection of Highway 17 (Highmarket Street). There is a BP station there. You'll want to turn left onto Highway 17 and take this road to Five Points as well. You'll know you're there when you see the McDonalds and the Famous Pizza restaurant.

From Five Points, take Highway 701 towards Conway. After you pass the Scotchman Convenience Store be on the lookout for SCA signs on the right. Just past the Food Lion grocery store there will be a sign directing you into the Country Club property. If you go to the red-light you've gone to far. If your coming into Georgetown on 701, you'll be looking for the signs and the Country Club on your left, directly accross from the Winn Dixie grocery store and the Anchor Bank. If you need a map, call the autocrat or co-autocrat.

Warriors' Games

July 19 - 21

As summer days wax warm in the south, and our neighbors in Meridies dream Olympian dreams, we invite you all to join the Canton of Tear-Sea's Shore on July 19, 20 and 21 to test your skills in Atlantia's original Warriors' Games.

These Games include races, a hammer toss, a mini-caber throw, woods tracking, axe and knife throwing competitions and other interesting contests designed to test the prowess of the boldest warrior. Most equipment will be provided, but we ask those intending to enter axe or knife throwing competitions to bring their own sharp objects. The Shore will provide the targets (inanimate).

You do NOT need to be an authorized fighter to enter the Games. However, if even the moderate athletic exercises of the Games exceed the level of activity you desire in the midsummer heat, there will also be a scavenger hunt and a variety of period games.

The Shore will provide breakfast Saturday and Sunday and non-alcoholic drinks throughout the day. By tradition, the evening's feast is potluck. We ask each gentle to bring a dish to serve six adults. For the sake of those who have dietary restrictions, please provide a list of the ingredients of your dish, if this is possible.

The site is the historic Clarissa's Peak (mundanely known as Duke's Campground). The site opens at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, July 19, and closes at noon on Sunday, July 21. Limited cabin camping is available in addition to copious tenting space.

The cost is five dollars ($5.00). Please make checks payable to the Society for Creative Anachronism - Canton of Tear-Sea's Shore. Send reservations and enquiries to the autocrat, Lady Aoibheal de la Belle Ame (Pam Parr, 3038 Edenborough Road, Johns Island, SC 29455; 803-559-9911).

Directions:

To reach the site from Charleston or interior locations, take your best route to exit 194 on I-26. At the bottom of the exit ramp, head east on Road 16. (Look out for deer and other beasties!) After approximately 5 miles, you will reach the first stop sign. This is Route 176. Turn left onto Route 176 and continue for several miles past the convenience store on the left. Shortly after you will see the entrance to Duke's Campground on the left. There will be SCA signs!

To reach the site from coastal locations to the north, take Route 17 to Georgetown, South Carolina. Take Route 17A south from Georgetown through Monck's Corner to the junction with Route 176. Turn right onto 176 and continue for approximately seven (7) miles until you reach the entrance to the site on the left.

Collegium Ante-Bellum

Here's your chance to get your battle skills ready for The Pennsic War. Classes will be oriented towards group tactics and techniques. Melees will include Heavy with and without Combat Archery and Rapier with and without Combat Archery. Archers wishing to shoot Rapier opponents have the same armor requirements as Rapier.

"Pickup" classes Friday evening on making weapons and armor as interest demands. If you are interested in teaching, contact the Autocrat. Authorizations available all day Saturday. More fighting Sunday morning, one-on-one, if you didn't get enough.

"War For Non-Combattants" - American Heart Association CPR class available and a class for waterbearers.

A&S Competition on the "Accruements of War."

The site is wet. Chivalric behavior is expected. Bring your own feast gear please. Saturday night feast is informal, below the salt, and will not require reservations. Campfires are prohibited. Camp stoves are allowed. Feast and tavern will accommodate vegetarians and diabetics. Simple tavern fare will be available for Saturday breakfast and lunch as well as Sunday Breadfast. Contact autocrat for more information.

This is not a state park with cabins. It is a privately owned field of battle. Bring everything you want to have available. Those having large pavilions they are willing to share for classrooms are encouraged. Bring practice weapons for classes that can be done without armor.

Site fee: $3. Because we're more interested with fighting at this event, feast will be simple - pizza and beverages (cost announced on the site).

Rapier Workshop

July 27

The Shire of Cathanar invites one and all to our 2nd summer rapier workshop and tournament, Saturday 27 July 1996, from noon - 5 pm.

Our indoor (can you say air-conditioned?) Site will be the Morehead City Community Center, 1600 Fisher St., Morehead City, NC. Since our wing of the building is usually kept closed on weekends, you will have to use the back door. Restrooms and showers are available, though.

The purpose of the workshop will be to bring rapier to those of us on the coast who can't often travel to events. Baroness Ceridwen has graciously offered her services as a marshal; if we can get one more marshal, we will be able to hold authorizations! (Hint, hint!)

After the workshop, any newly authorized fencers will be able to test their skills in their first real tournament. Our Hannah Graham has volunteered to donate a prize.

When the site closes, Christoph and Kat will open their home for a small revel. We'll have bread, cheese, stew, and all the drinks a horde of thirsty fencers could want! We'll show a fencing movie and hang out as late as folks want. (Crash space is very available, particularly if you call ahead.)

The Rapier workshop is absolutely free, though Kat and Christoph are accepting donations of a dollar or two at the revel to defray the cost of the meal. The workshop is bone-dry, as befits a practice with potentially lethal weapons, but the revel will be wet for those of legal age.

For more information or to reserve crash space OR IF YOU'D LIKE TO VOLUNTEER SERVICES AS A MARSHAL contact the autocrats: Christopher Storme of Kintail (Christoph Hintze), Lot 24 Dutch Treat MHP, Hwy 24, Newport, NC 28570-8426, (919) 726-0612 OR Hannah Graham (Cheryl Lunn), 187 Hammock's Landing, Newport, NC 28570, beeper (919) 247-9151.

Directions:

From the North, West and South: Take your best route to Hwy 70 (Arendell St.) through Morehead City. Turn left onto 16th Street *and go two blocks to Fisher. The Community Center will be on your left. There is some parking in front of the building, but you'll be best served to cross Fisher and park on 16th behind the building. Enter through the back doors by the basketball courts.

From the East: Take Hwy 70 (Arendell St.) west through Morehead City. Turn right onto 16th Street and follow from * above.

Directions to the revel will be provided on site, or call Christoph.
