I will add that in g1, I was never able to actually curse
anything (never tried it in G2). Has anyone been successful
in casting this spell on anything?

The rules only indicate this is so for knights and elite guard.
I believe that this column actually has to do with movement, not combat.
When you move into a swamp, sometimes the turn report will say:
"Difficult terrain slows the animals. Travel will take an extra day."
I believe this column defines what constitutes "units which take
extra time to move into a swamp". Note also that such movement will
be at the *walking* rate, even if you would normally be entitled to
riding speed. So e.g. moving into a swamp with one noble on a horse will
take 15 days.

Rich has definately said NO to this on more than one occasion.
This would tend to give a big(ger) edge to people who would spend
dozens of hours writing their orders, and particularly to programmers
(who would understand better how to write such orders) which he
doesn't want.

Besides, you will quickly find that just writing an entire turn
where all the orders actually do what you want/intend even in the
absence of interference from other players is hard enough without
the complications of conditionals.
