Well, this doesn't happen for every item... I've found several staves, and
even a shield with no description of what they do. (One of the staves gave
a mage extra aura, but the shield doesn't give a defense bonus...)
Some items you just have to hand around until they "self-identify" by
showing you what they do in your inventory list.
