In the old days of the AOO, we got a lot of nastygrams.
Some of us made half-hearted attempts to answer the critisisms,
but we quickly learned that these people didn't really care all
that much about the facts: it was the whining and invective that
was important to them. So, just accepting the fact that we were
indeed the embodiment of pure evil saved us all a lot of time.
I think the trouble here is that Greg is in fact a nice guy. However,
he actually seems to care that people should realize that he *is*
a nice guy, and it seems that he takes it personally when others
make disparaging remarks. This makes him a target for all the
people who waste their time trolling for responses, and when they
actually get a response, take it as an invitation to spew forth
yet more.
No doubt this note will generate its own round of vitrolic
attacks, which I think will demonstrate the point more effectively
than anything else I could add.
