Attacks on 'newbies' and neutrals

Greetings gentlemen.

I don't normally get involved in these public disscusions,
although I do normally pay attention to them, and I must say I
am quite appalled at the recent foul cries for the attacks on
so called 'newbies'.

There is no beneficial reason for large alliances, or small
for that matter, to make an attack on a real 'newbie', and quite
to the contrary a lot can be gained by earning their friendship.
So most attacks on 'newbies' are accidental. What shocks me is
that other alliances cry 'foul' when it happens and put the
blame on the attacker. If you are a 'newbie' operating in a
warzone and get attacked, you have no one else to blame but
yourself. You are the one who has everything to lose so it should
be you who should take every precaution to make sure you are
not attacked. A short and simple message to all sides involved
in the conflict, or even a short message to the list or the
times, will take care of most accidental attacks. I imagine it
must be extremelly hard for the alliances involved in these
conflicts to keep track of the sheer numbers of nobles owned
by their enemies, so if they spot a noble wandering through
enemy territory, it is a safe assumption to label it as an
enemy.

We can hardly be called 'newbies', but we are neutral
in the current conflicts, and we do have several ships
wandering throughout the world exploring and questing, some
of them very near to the hot warzones, and even some which
could be considered dangerous as they are well armed, but
nevertheless, we have never in the history of Olympia been
accidentally attacked, because we make sure everyone in the
area knows we are there and what we are doing.

In essence, I would just like to say that if you
get yourself attacked by accident in a warzone, you have
no one else to blame but yourself.

Live long and prosper,
