Well.. I've been reading the g2-list for the past 110 turns now
in silence and I think its about time I write a message in response
to the recent discussion.

First. Let me write the stand disclaimer that this is an out
of game message. But I will be making some references to in game
politics.

I think it is quite a shame and quite ridiculous the amount of
name calling and the inability of many players to distinguish
between in game interactions and outside the game discussions.

The issues of bugs is definitely an outside of the game discussion.
And while I have found myself at odds with Oleg in both in G1
and now in a circular way in G2.. I believe I must support Greg Lindahl
in the recent discussion up to this point.

We can discuss bugs and/or features without making another player
feel unwelcome nor to abuse another player to the point of
them to consider leaving. A game that they have devoted so much
time and effort to.

I am not advocating the use and abuse of bugs. Whether one player
or a group of players exploit a bug/feature is up to them. Personally,
I think its part of the game to find shortcuts and to exploit these
features. I have done so in the past, and continue to look for these
"features" in the future in order to benefit my faction.

But I do so with the full understanding that the moderator will at
any moment without reason correct/modify these bugs or features without
warning.

I think the problem lies not in a single player or single alliances'
exploitation of features/bugs, but rather in the relatively lack of
response from the moderator.

And until the moderator reacts promptly to these bug/feature reports.
We, as players must simply adapt and adjust to the existing conditions.

So.. I would like to touch upon the general discussion of "unbalance"
and "G3".. In such an OPEN-ended game, I don't quite understand why
players insist upon a new game? Part of the fun of an open-ended
game is to adapt to changing features, to work within the rules (to
exploit loopholes)..

To use the SFW wounds bug/healing potion bug/the riding bug, and now
the new discovered movement feature (using command priorities) as
an example, Each and every time, players have called this unbalancing
and screamed bloody murder.. How?? why??

The SFW wounds/healing potions can easily be countered with your own
set of mages. Mutually assured destruction (MAD) is a valid theory in
this case.

The riding bug.. sure it allowed the LoTC to move rapidly.. but you had
the capability to use that feature as well. One could've countered
with your own elite troops striking quickly.

And now the ability to move large stacks in short periods of time.
Again? What is to keep one from moving 1000 men quickly through the
same means into Oleg's rear areas??

For most actions in this game, there are counter actions. Its part
of the game.

Wow.. I've rambled on for quite a bit. To summarize.

1). Play the game. Respect the other players even if you must destroy
their factions.

2). Report inconsistences between gameplay and rules. Hope for the
moderator to respond rapidly.

3). Adapt and Adjust. continue the game and enjoy the game.

That's it.

(Ninth Wave) The Empire in G1.
(Villians by Neccessity) Atala Confederacy in G2
