I've seen this happen quite a bit with games that are available
from the web, whether played there or via email. There seem to be
swarms of people who derive great joy from signing up for games
that they never play again. I don't know if there was a similar
problem in the days before email, given the extra effort required
to mail somebody a setup form, but there are certainly people here
who could tell us.

It's stupid, but it's not strange.
