Per the rules, it increases the civ-level by 2. So unless you have a
castle it is of little use. Maybe you could pillage a province that
the crown is in?

Most of the relics are low powered. The crown would give a castle
owner 90-290 extra gold per turn for 12-24 turns. Maybe you could
sell it to a castle owner?
