I participated in some naval combat in g1. I assume the rules haven't
changed.

Yes. If memory serves it works just like giving attack orders for a static
building. HOSTILE orders also work.

As with building combat all nobles in the ship participate in the combat.
At the end of the combat any captured noble's goods are moved to the victor
same as with other rules.

Same as building combat. If you don't set the flag for not moving into the
target you will move in. This could be bad if you are attacking a galley
with a roundship. But if you set the flag properly or remember to enter
"move" orders back to your ship following the combat you won't have a problem.
