Thanks, Keith, for perhaps the most sane message in all this mess.
Again, I speak for myself, not my alliance, and I hope what I have to
say won't be taken out of turn. But there are just a couple of points I
have to comment on.
First, Keith references "certain PLATO members" insisting that Oly is a
wargame. That, I believe, would be me. I never said everyone had to
play it as a wargame, nor did I ever say that I personally enjoy the
wargame aspects more than the others. What I did say (or meant to say,
which is not at all the same thing) was that a game where so much of the
rules involve combat and soldiering seems like a wargame to me. I also
said that if "I" attacked someone who wasn't in their mind playing a
wargame and they fought back then they were now playing a wargame. When
I said "I" that was hypothetical, folks. Anyone who knows me knows that
I tend to be more of the builder type, like my wish list for Oly
suggests. Hell, I asked for farms, not tanks. ;) And if you only knew
what PC games I play, and how I play them. I've beat CivII on the
highest level without ever fighting a battle. (Sorry to brag)
That said, however, my recent claim that the NE cannot rebuld in Azrain
stands. Mike, although seemingly a nice guy, is fixated on rebuilding
his original empire, which as a result of his diplomacy (not Fox's, his)
I have to view as a threat to me. Same goes for Codric. Anyone else
can build near Yellowleaf and I won't care, but I have a right (in any
type of game) to attempt to ensure my security, especially if I think I
have the wherewithal to do it. I also feel I must support the I-Man in
whatever his claims are, since he has supported me in the past and I am
a man of honor.
So that's it. I hope we can avoid a world war, because although it
would be interesting to watch it would be too great a distraction from
some of the things I want to acomplish.
