Thanks to all for their input. Sounds like the game does produce a 25%
return. It just doesn't appear that there is any cumulative affect to
the research, which imho it should. You spend enough time in those
drafty towers something should come about. Oh, well back in the tower
for a turn or two more then if no results , he gets the knife.

Subject: Research Woes

Is everyone else having as bad luck with research spells as I am
or is there something I am doing incorrectly? I use the order
research 800, which to me is kinda dumb, why not specify what
you
want to research not some generaly category to hope to get what
you
want. It also doesnt not appear to have any benefit to doing
cumulative
researches. I am now 1 for 20 which is a lot of wasted time that
could
have been spent on other things. I also talked to one of my
faction
members and he is 1 for 14 on research.

Why not offer the option to research a given spell? Why not list
the
cumulative effect of your research on a given spell? Maybe you
only
increase chances by 5% a turn, but thats better than it is now.

It seems that research is more of a luck die-roll than any
concentrated
effort of diligence and time(well time i got hehe, 20 weeks
worth for
one spell).

Anyway , thought i would post this too see if things are just
skewed
in my area and hopefully people are hitting the "random"
research of
a 25% crap shoot.

Maybe its time to commit sepaku(sp?) on my mage.....
