What you must also consider is that psychological warfare/persuasion are
parts of warfare. The 'scare mongering', whether justified or not, attempt
to attract people to the side of the mongerer (or is it mongrel?). Real
world governments, corporations, etc. do it all the time.
It doesn't matter whether the faction issuing the statement is, in fact,
right or wrong, they're always going to claim the side of right. I don't
know that anyone making these posts truly believes the embelishment that
they've added on to make things dramatic.
