If it's important to you, you can become arbitrarily certain that there
is nothing left
to find. If you explore for eight weeks and find nothing you are 90%
sure there is
nothing there. If you explore for 16 weeks you're 99% sure. If you
explore for 32
weeks you're 99.99% sure. You used to be able to guess where the inner
locations
were because they had sequential IDs and that was considered a bad thing
and changed
in g2. In g1, you would sometimes find an inner location stocked with
monsters you
couldn't attack without possessing "The Crossbow of Yondor [xx9x]" or
some such.
You'd have to do a scry/locate on that item to find where it was, then
explore that
province to find the inner location, then kill whatever was in that
inner location to
get the item. It added another way to go about finding hidden inner
locations.
Unfortunately, this new QUEST business means that that system won't work
without
major modifications but hopefully Rich kept it somehow.

Whoo-oop! I'm the old original iron-jawed, brass-mounted, copper-
bellied corpse-maker from the wilds of Arkansaw! Look at me! I'm
the man they call Sudden Death and General Desolation! Sired by a
hurricane, dam'd by an earthquake, half-brother to the cholera and
nearly related to the small pox on my mother's side! Look at me!
I take nineteen alligators an a bar'l of whisky for breakfast when
I'm in robust health, and a bushel of rattlesnakes and a dead body
when I'm ailing! I split the everlasting rocks with my glance,
and I squench the thunder when I speak! Whoo-oop! Stand back and
give me room according to my strength! Blood's my natural drink,
and the wails of the dying is music to my ear! Cast your eye on
me, gentlemen! -- and lay low and hold your breath, for I'm 'bout
