Rumors
7....6....
As he scanned the courtyard for any disturbance, his hounds began to howl. Through the torchlight, he examined the library at which they were barking. He motioned for the archers above him to aim at the door just as a man, dressed in a soldier's tunic, bounded out in a panicked state.
It was foolhardy (for a spy), he thought, as a rain of arrows descended. Surprisingly, the spy made it to a side gate. With a hand over a deep wound, the spy exited to the outer courtyard. Unfortunately, the Beastmaster was playing with his lions in the outer courtyard and before the Beastmaster could exact control, the lions, driven by the scent of blood, had torn the spy to shreds.
Moral: Spies and hounds don't mix. [Let's keep those spies away, ok?]

"if you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself, but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle."

O gods of Olympia, save us from self-anointed "Disciples of Sun-Tzu", wherever they may be... (Less filling! Taste great!)

Musings of a would-be-heroine as she looks at a lair: Does anyone in this world quest? What do the bards sing about quests? Are the rewards worth the risk? How big an army should one take?
